CITV host shares steamy encounters with pop star and footballer in post

Former CITV host Danielle Nicholls, who co-hosted alongside Stephen Mulhern, shared her sneaky past boasting about encounters with two famous stars backstage on the set of her show

A former CITV host has lifted the lid on steamy encounters with a pop star and a footballer in her dressing room, following the sad news the children's channel is set to shut down.

Danielle Nicholls, who was one of the many famous presenters to launch their careers on the classic children's channel - alongside the likes of Stephen Mulhern, Cat Deely, and Andi Peters - took a trip down memory lane and shared her sneaky past after landing her first hosting role at the age of 19.

Thankfully, Danielle, who now works on Talk TV, says her dressing room romp with ex- Bolton Wanderers footballer Dean Holden eventually led the pair to tie the knot a few years down the line. In an interview with The Daily Star, she said: "I remember when I was only 19 years old and on CITV I snogged a pop star in the dressing room."

She added: "It was quite cheeky, but I did even more than that with a footballer. The good news there is that I ended up marrying him, so that was okay!"

The former presenter shared her devastation after the TV channel, which launched in 2006, made the decision to close next month as a means to make way for its new and exciting children's streaming service, ITVX Kids. Ex-host Michael Underwood declared that the news of CITV's cancellation was 'inevitable' but says he's struggling to cope with the news.

Earlier this month, in a statement, the broadcaster said: "ITVX Kids is part of ITV’s continuing drive to supercharge its presence in streaming, delivering content to audiences however they want to watch it. As a consequence of this new streaming approach, and responding to the changing ways children and their parents are increasingly accessing content, the CITV broadcast channel will close after the summer holidays on 1st September."

Danielle said: "It's really sad they're taking children's television away. There are all these really famous presenters that came from it, Ant and Dec, Cat Deeley, Andi Peters."

"I think it'll have a knock on effect in television in general. Kids TV is where you learn your trade, it's where you learn the business and you have natural progression."

The channel has been home to popular programmes including Horrid Henry, Art Attack, My Parents Are Aliens, and many more. A number of stars such as Ant and Dec and Holly Willoughby, who began their showbiz careers at a young age, have since gone on to appear on big names shows on both ITV and the BBC.
